I am guessing now there is also the interlocking concept of knowing the work you do is already sufficient or even exemplary versus what is thrust upon you as unreasonable expectations.
I also wonder if those unreasonable expectations are either the propensity for leaders (bosses and various managers) to be authoritative or the delusional detachment from what it requires to actually do the hard work.
It is easy to describe the expectations and emulate them figuratively but when they are laying out their goals for others, how much of that is rooted in reality, including the bottlenecks and fatigue that affect productivity.
Updating their own expectations with reality could make a huge difference and also discourage the very real character assassination that also comes with them assuming you are phoning something in, goofing off, or otherwise.
What comes as a cushion for them in their overarching cosplay at what you are doing and assuming malfeasance on our part speaks a lot to the imbalance between not just equal treatment, but the disparity between allotted compassion. Where is the true understanding? Where is the individual understanding based on the person’s position, exposure to the actual tasks, hiccups and efforts. Will I be that person, once again, that absorbs an a large amount of responsibility at a high enough pace to absolve myself from attention, knowing it will never be from expectation?
So many of us take on a lot in this world, in these endless times. We somehow can be expected to be superhuman in some tritely inhuman ways. Do our best, compassion upon ourselves, as we keep seeking out disappearing disparity.
